Nordforsk appoints director

Arne Flåøyen is to become director of the Nordic research funder Nordforsk from January next year.

Flåøyten is the head of department for fish health at the Norwegian Veterinary Institute. He has a doctorate in veterinary medicine and a masters in management. His appointment was announced by Nordforsk on 15 September.

Flåøyten has international experience from working as a project officer at the directorate for biotechnologies and agriculture in the European Commission’s research directorate. He will replace Gunnel Gustafsson, who has led the organisation since 2010 and whose contract ends this year.
