Greenland is set to get a dedicated research and treatment centre for diabetes, after a “vision statement” was approved by its government and the Novo Nordisk Foundation.
Steno Diabetes Center Greenland is part of a larger implementation plan expected to be approved by the foundation and Greenland’s government in 2020.
“Our ambition is that the new initiatives will improve treatment, research, prevention and education within diabetes and other lifestyle-related diseases to benefit people in Greenland,” Lars Rebien Sørensen, chairman of the Novo Nordisk Foundation’s board of directors, said in an announcement on 27 November.
