Finland, US fund joint wireless network research

The Academy of Finland and Tekes, the Finnish innovation agency, have joined forces with the National Science Foundation in the United States to award a total of €3.7 million for research on wireless networks.

The grant winners, announced on 14 December, include a joint project between the University of Oulu, the University of Maryland and the New York State-based Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute to study environmentally friendly wireless communication systems and spectrum efficiency.
