Academy windfall funds Arctic, mineral and ICT research

The Academy of Finland, a Finnish funding agency, has received an additional €20 million from the Finnish government’s 2013 budget, which is to be spent on projects related to Finnish government priorities.

The academy and Tekes, the Finnish Funding Agency for Technology and Innovation, will collaborate on the ICT 2023 research, development and innovation programme. According to the government’s budget proposal for 2014, the academy should spend at least €10 million on this programme.

The academy will also launch a call for proposals for Arctic and mineral resources research between 19 November and 18 December with a budget of €8 million.
