Evaluation calls for SHOKs overhaul

Finland’s Strategic Centres for Science, Technology and Innovation (SHOKs) need a fundamental redesign if they are to succeed in boosting Finnish innovation, according to an external evaluation commissioned by the Ministry of Employment and the Economy (MEE).

The review says there are “significant challenges with the current operations model and with the results and effectiveness” of the six SHOK centres. These must be addressed to improve the efficiency of the innovation initiative, it says.
