A Finnish medical research institute was selected to lead what participants say is the largest European biobank project yet.
The four-year project, called Biobanking and Biomolecular Resources Research Infrastructure (BBMRI)—Large Prospective Cohorts (LPC), aims to enable academic and industrial scientists to improve the understanding of human biology. Biobanks act as a centralised storage for medical samples that can be accessed by researchers.
The BBMRI-LPC is to be coordinated by Finland’s Institute for Molecular Medicine.
