An atmospheric scientist has been appointed president of the European branch of the International Eurasian Academy of Sciences.
The European centre focuses on changes in the Arctic and Boreal regions, such as the melting of permafrost. The centre also examines economic and geopolitical questions, such as the exploitation of natural resources.
Kulmala said that the European centre would cooperate with the PanEurasian Experiment, a research initiative on climate change in the Northern Eurasian artic and boreal region. Kulmala is the director of the division of atmospheric sciences at the department of physics in the University of Helsinki.
