Resources institute appoints leader

Finland’s natural resources institute, which is expected to begin its work in January 2015, has appointed Mari Walls as its director-general.

Walls has been the director of the Finnish Environment Institute, Syke, since 2009. Before this, she worked as the research director at Agrifood Research Finland and head of the University of Turku’s environmental research centre.

“The director-general must be able to manage the organisation, as well as promote research collaboration nationally and internationally, said Jaana Husu-Kallio, permanent secretary of the ministry of agriculture and forestry.
