Finland’s universities of applied sciences are recommending structural changes—including mergers—in order to boost their competitiveness.
Arene, the Rectors’ Conference of Finnish Universities of Applied Sciences, published its report entitled Maailman paras korkeakoululaitos (the world’s best higher education institution) on 10 February.
It suggests institutions strengthen their profiles through putting more emphasis on their strengths and scrapping weak areas. The aim is to increase quality and use scarce resources more efficiently, the report says.
