All peer-reviewed research funded by the Academy of Finland must from now on be freely available, either upon publication or after an embargo period, the academy has said.
Researchers have three options publishing their articles open access: the green model, the gold model or the hybrid model, the academy said. Its governing board made the decision in April, and the changes were announced on 30 May.
Under the green model, academic articles must be uploaded to an open-access repository after an embargo period. This can include uploading the articles onto the website of the researcher’s home institution, according to the new rules.
