Aalto University in Helsinki is to establish a design and innovation college in Shanghai with Tongji University.
The Shanghai International College of Design and innovation is set to receive its first students in the autumn, Aalto said in a statement on 30 June. The college will offer three masters programmes, and students will spend their first year in China and their second year in Finland.
This is Aalto’s first tailored educational cooperation programme, under which it will provide commissioned education services to Tongji University, the statement said. The agreement was signed between the presidents of Aalto and Tongji on 29 June, as part of Finnish prime minister Juha Sipilä’s trip to China.
