Norway hosts four Advanced Grant winners

Norway is going to host four European Advanced Grants, which award between NOK 15-20 million (€2-2.5m) to distinguished scientists, it was announced on 13 February.

The European Research Council awards these grants to distinguished scientists, who will use the money to set up their own research groups. Three of the winners for Norway will be based at the Universities of Oslo, and one will do his research at the University of Bergen.

The winners are all Norwegian, meaning this year Norway has not attracted international ERC Advanced Grant winners, who can take their funding to any institution they wish. A total of 36 Norwegian scientists applied for ERC grants in 2012, the Forskningsradet, the Norwegian Research Council, said.
