The construction industry in Norway is unproductive, and needs more innovation and research to improve its performance, a report has found.
The Norwegian research council Forskningsrådet published a strategy for the construction industry on 29 October, which it hopes will make it more profitable, productive and sustainable. According to the Bygg21 strategy, there is a huge need for research-based knowledge in construction, and that it could increase productivity by 20 per cent.
More than 400 representatives of the construction industry, nongovernmental organisations, research institutions and universities, as well as government agencies provided input to the report.
