Drop in research cooperation recorded

Only one-third of Norwegian companies that engaged in R&D collaboration in 2015 did so with a higher education institution—down from 45 per cent in 2013, a report has found.

At the same time, the proportion of companies that collaborated with a research institute dropped by about the same amount, the annual research barometer, published by the Norwegian government on 13 September, showed.

The barometer found that Norwegian companies are doing less R&D collaboration with all international partners. The proportion of companies cooperating with non-Nordic European partners dropped from 38 per cent in 2013 to 29 per cent in 2015, while collaboration with the United States dropped from 16 per cent to 12 per cent.
