Basic funding for Norway’s engineering research institutes will increase by 40-million Norwegian kroner (€4.2m) in 2019, according to reports.
Research minister Iselin Nybø and industry minister Torbjørn Røe Isaksen revealed the funding boost during a visit to the Sintef independent research organisation at the end of September, the news website Research Policy reported on 1 October.
According to the report, Nybø stressed that the government’s aim is for Norway to spend 3 per cent of its GDP on R&D. She reportedly said that industry must play an important role in this.
