Norway and South Africa are to increase their scientific collaboration on topics of shared interest, such as melting ice caps and oceanography, after signing off a joint research roadmap.

Kristin Danielsen, director of internationalisation at the Research Council of Norway, said that the two countries both have long coastlines and depend on the marine environment for much of their GDP, and so have challenges in common.
