More than 12 per cent of professors at the Russian Academy of Sciences have signed a letter supporting Alexei Khokhlov for the presidency.
According to a letter seen by the Russian news agency Tass on 2 August, 61 professors of the RAS have endorsed Khokhlov for the top post.
Khokhlov is a polymer physicist and vice-rector of Lomonosov Moscow State University. He announced his candidacy in early June and is one of seven academics vying for the position.
