EU and Egypt seek closer research ties

The EU and Egypt have said they would like to work more closely together on research and innovation, in particular through Horizon 2020.

Representatives of the EU and Egypt met at the seventh EU-Egypt Association Council on 25 July and agreed on priorities for cooperation over the next three years. These included research into renewable energy sources and energy efficiency.

A joint statement said that the EU and Egypt are “strengthening their energy dialogue”, and that this would contribute to joint research, sharing experience and best practice, and technology transfer in this area.
