EU and Iran strengthen ties

The European Commission and the Iranian science ministry have met in Tehran to establish closer cooperation on research and higher education.

Representatives from the Commission and the Iranian ministry yesterday discussed opportunities for cooperation under Horizon 2020 at an event co-hosted by the two institutions. Today delegates exchanged ideas and best practice, and explored opportunities for higher education institutions, including under Erasmus+.

One focus of the event is the Erasmus+ International Credit Mobility instrument, which was opened up to Iranian institutions this year. The instrument allows universities in participating countries to pair up, to facilitate student exchanges for up to 12 months and staff exchanges for up to 60 days.
