The EU and Jordan have finalised the terms for the country’s participation in the Partnership on Research and Innovation in the Mediterranean Area (Prima).
The two parties reached agreement on Jordan’s participation in Prima at an EU-Jordan Association Council meeting in Brussels on 10 July. In a statement, the European Council said the agreement was “an important step” in bringing the country into the partnership.
Prima is an initiative to support research and innovation into improving sustainable water management and food production in the Mediterranean region—two important challenges for Jordan. It is set to run for 10 years, starting in 2018, and has a budget of €473 million.
