Four hundred educational, cultural and research organisations across Europe have endorsed a set of recommendations calling for strong collaboration between the EU and UK after Brexit.
The recommendations were issued by the British Council, the UK’s independent organisation for international cultural relations and educational opportunities, in a document titled Our Shared European Future on 2 July.
The document, which is intended to influence the Brexit negotiations, stressed the importance to research and culture of the ease of movement of people. It called on EU and UK leaders to negotiate an agreement for education, culture and research that enhances the flow of ideas, creativity and talent—“if absolutely necessary” through permits allowing people to bypass post-Brexit immigration restrictions.
