MEPs discuss budget cuts to research

The European Parliament is debating the size of the overall EU budget for 2018, including a proposal to cut funding to Horizon 2020.

MEPs today (30 August) will talk about the Council of Ministers’ proposal to cut €1.7 billion in commitments and €1bn in payments.

The proposal sees €750 million sliced off the Commission’s recommended 2018 budget for competitiveness for growth and jobs, including almost €500m from Horizon 2020.
