France’s president Emmanuel Macron has backed the creation of a European innovation agency along the lines of the forthcoming European Innovation Council.
In a major speech on the future of Europe delivered on 26 September, Macron said there was a need for a European innovation agency able to finance projects from emerging fields of research.
“Let us create within two years a European agency for innovation, to be in the position of innovator and not of follower,” the president was quoted as saying in French newspaper Le Monde.
