Socialists call for better uptake of UN 2030 agenda

The Socialists and Democrats group in the European Parliament has called for a “radical shift” towards sustainability in European politics, in line with the 2030 UN Sustainable Development Goals.

The indifference and lack of urgency around sustainability must come to an end, S&D president Udo Bullmann said in a statement on 25 September.

“Saying that progress has not been enough is just a polite euphemism,” he said. “The UN 2030 agenda has neither been consistently translated into national and European policies, nor does it play a prominent role in public debates.”
