Romania fleshes out priorities for its presidency

The Romanian presidency of the Council of the EU has published more details on the priorities of its six-month agenda, including how it intends to even out R&D performance across the bloc.

A programme published by Romania on 15 January confirmed that one of the presidency’s priorities will be to reduce research and innovation gaps among EU member states through the EU’s 2021-27 R&D programme Horizon Europe.

“One way to achieve this objective is to promote the expansion of participation and sharing of scientific excellence within the Horizon Europe programme of the EU in order to build a critical mass of researchers and ensure an adequate level of research, development and innovation activities in all member states,” the programme says.
