Head of policy leaving R&D department to work for Ursula von der Leyen
Kurt Vandenberghe, director for policy development and coordination in the European Commission’s R&D department, is leaving the role and the department, he has confirmed to Research Professional News.
He is joining the “cabinet” of staff that will directly support the next Commission president, Ursula von der Leyen (pictured). He will advise her on her planned European Green Deal package of policies to mitigate climate change and protect the environment, he confirmed, but said he could not comment further at this stage.
