Research committee chair put forward for commissioner post

Adina-Ioana Vălean would need to be replaced as head of European Parliament committee

Romanian MEP Adina-Ioana Vălean, chair of the European Parliament’s Committee on Industry, Research and Energy, has been nominated for her country’s EU commissioner post, according to EU insiders.

Joseph Daul, president of the European People’s Party political group, tweeted his congratulations to Vălean on 7 November. Vălean is a member of Romania’s National Liberal Party, which is part of the EPP.
