High-level representatives of the EU and leaders of the League of Arab States have agreed to work more closely together in several areas, including research.
A joint declaration was agreed at a summit on 25 February in Sharm El-Sheikh, Egypt, arranged to discuss common challenges and “embark on a new era of cooperation and coordination”.
Representatives “expressed [their] determination to move forward with deepening the existing strategic partnership” between their regions and promoting peace and prosperity, the declaration says. They said that political solutions “in accordance with international law, including international humanitarian law”, were required to achieve these aims.
