Researchers funded through the European Research Council will have access to teams and knowledge supported by the Japan Science and Technology Agency under a new deal.
The agreement was confirmed at the EU-Japan Summit, held in Brussels on 25 April, where both sides pledged their dedication to an existing strategic partnership in research and innovation dating back to May 2015.
A joint statement from European Council president Donald Tusk, European Commission president Jean-Claude Juncker and Japan’s prime minister Shinzo Abe said the powers would “aim to provide opportunities for collaboration” between European Research Council researchers and colleagues funded by the Japan Science and Technology Agency.
