Policy analysts have set out the main challenges the next crop of EU politicians and policymakers will need to tackle to ensure high standards of living for European citizens.
The European Strategy and Policy Analysis System (Espas), which facilitates cooperation among the EU institutions, published a report on 8 April setting out the important trends that will shape the next decade, and the related decisions that politicians and policymakers will need to take.
These include seven “mega-trends” that are almost guaranteed: climate warming, population growth, urbanisation, economic growth, rising energy demands, growing global connectivity and an increasingly complex balance of global powers.
