R&D ‘essential’ to Finland’s EU presidency plans

The Finnish presidency of the Council of the EU has said that R&D will be a core part of its efforts to put the bloc on a path to sustainable economic growth.

Finnish ministers presented the country’s plans for its six-month turn at organising national governments’ work on EU initiatives to the European Parliament’s Committee on Industry, Research and Energy on 23 July. 

“Finland has set an ambitious objective that the EU becomes the most competitive and socially inclusive climate-neutral economy globally,” Katri Kulmuni (pictured), Finland’s minister of economic affairs, told the committee.
