EU budget proposals must be revised, MEPs say

Policy promises and budget are misaligned, in addition to Brexit making ‘life far more complicated’

The European Commission and European Council will need to present new or amended budget proposals to resolve discrepancies between their policy ambitions and the money they have allocated to them, MEPs have said.

Concerns were raised over a climate change fund, plans to equalise researcher salaries in different countries and the “headache” of negotiating the UK’s post-Brexit access to EU research funds.
