MEPs: ‘EU must lead on biodiversity research and targets’

European Parliament wants to ring-fence EU funding and landmass to save species

Members of the European Parliament have passed a resolution calling for more research on biodiversity and legally binding targets for nature reserves and pesticide use.

Basic biodiversity research, such as the cataloguing of species, is “significantly under-resourced and does not receive a sufficient level of policy and research funding,” the resolution says.
