MEPs aim to ‘give new impetus’ to cancer research

The European Parliament will set up a special committee on cancer, to add the institution’s political clout to other planned EU initiatives for reducing the burden of the disease.

“If we combine our research, our resources and our experience, the EU can beat cancer,” said MEP Manfred Weber (pictured), chairman of the European People’s Party political group, which pushed for the committee.
