Plan envisions regions helping to pool various sources of EU funding to support R&D

The EU body representing regional politicians and the European Commission have signed an action plan for how they can cooperate more closely on research and innovation, to boost R&D locally and across the EU as a whole.

The action plan was signed by representatives of the European Committee of the Regions and the Commission R&D department and published on 25 November. It sets out 26 “concrete actions” in four priority areas: evidence-based policymaking, consultation, awareness raising and co-funding.
