‘Frugal five’ countries at odds with supporters of higher national budget contributions
The European Commission’s top R&D official has called for EU member states to compromise in their negotiations on the bloc’s 2021-27 budget.
Jean-Eric Paquet said the president of the European Council, Charles Michel, would need to find a middle ground amid his tour of national leaders ahead of a Council meeting on the budget scheduled for 20 February.
