Committee will have year-long mandate and ‘close link’ to Horizon Europe mission
The European Parliament has voted overwhelmingly to create a special committee on beating cancer, whose 33 members will be tasked with evaluating opportunities to prevent and fight the disease, including by optimising EU support for cancer research.
The special committee was voted into existence on 18 June with a one-year mandate. Its brief includes “looking at actions to strengthen the approach at every key stage of the disease”.
