Survey of almost 25,000 people finds appetite for investment in knowledge generation

Research and education are placed fifth and sixth among citizens’ priorities for EU spending in the context of Covid-19, a survey of almost 25,000 people for the European Parliament has found.

Asked to pick up to four areas for EU spending, 33 per cent of respondents backed “scientific research and technological innovation” and 32 per cent “education, training and culture”.
