2021 review: launchpad to a new world?

This year, despite the pandemic, ambitious projects blasted off in search of a brighter future

As 2021 began, we predicted other stories would start to get more time in a spotlight largely dominated by Covid-19. So it proved.

While the pandemic has continued to preoccupy much of the research sector, as well as wider society, many other events with the potential to shape the future for R&D took off this year. These included the launch of research and innovation missions and the first funding calls in Horizon Europe.
