First meeting of EU research ministers will launch forum on “universities of tomorrow”
France has begun its term hosting the presidency of the Council of the EU, giving it a chance to get its priorities for policies around research, innovation, education and other activities onto the bloc’s agenda.
The Council brings EU member state governments together for their work on the bloc, and each member state gets a six-month turn hosting and chairing its activities. These presidencies influence what activities are focused on during their term, to a degree.
