French presidency of EU to back a European Innovation Area

         

Policy package would sit alongside research and education areas in coordinating EU activities

EU member state governments have given a sign that they will support the creation of a European Innovation Area policy package to sit alongside the bloc’s similar initiatives for research and education.

The French presidency of the Council of EU, which is coordinating the EU-related activities of the bloc’s member state governments from January to June, said in a programme for its six months at the helm that it will “back the building of a real European Innovation Area”.
