EU to call for stronger research at global biodiversity meeting

Bloc will also advocate regional centres for scientific cooperation and technology transfer at UN conference

The EU will urge global leaders to strengthen research in a bid to protect and restore biodiversity at a United Nations conference in December.

The conference, known as COP15, will gather world leaders in Montréal, Canada, to agree a new set of goals for protecting nature over the next decade.
