Member states’ take on innovation ‘improved by broader approach’

                 

University group praises wider scope and focus on fundamental research in draft document

The head of one of Europe’s leading university groups has praised changes to a proposal on how the EU should approach innovation.

Guild of European Research-Intensive Universities secretary-general Jan Palmowski said via social media on 31 October that revisions made to the draft text had left it “much better”. Palmowski especially praised the move to drop what he called an “exclusive focus on deep tech” and to instead recognise the “key role of fundamental research and Europe’s science base” in innovation.
