This week: Ukraine support, Horizon Europe budget hike, Cern cuts ties with Russia and more
A group of European and US national academy organisations have adopted an action plan for supporting research and innovation in Ukraine amid the Russian invasion. The plan includes maintaining Ukrainian affiliations for researchers who have temporarily moved abroad, funding joint research and early career researchers, and providing access to facilities. Meanwhile, G7 science ministers adopted a statement expressing “unwavering support for Ukrainian scientists and students”. Days earlier, the EU launched a scheme to support Ukrainian innovators and said it was waiving the cost of Ukraine’s participation in the bloc’s R&D programme for 2021-22.
