Commission R&D deputy to gain acting chief role

Signe Ratso has been deputy director-general of the research and innovation department since 2018

The European Commission’s research and innovation department is to be led on an acting basis by Signe Ratso, who has been serving as a deputy head of the department since March 2018.

The Commission told Research Professional News that Ratso is stepping up on an interim basis from 1 September to replace outgoing director-general Jean-Eric Paquet, who is leaving the role to become EU ambassador to Japan.
