Former senior adviser to US State Department calls for “European Security Commission on AI”

A former senior adviser to the US State Department has urged the EU to pay less attention to ethical restrictions and more attention to competing with other countries when it comes to artificial intelligence.

“Europe has an opportunity here to put the language of power, the relationship with other states, in its discourse a little more beyond ethics and rules,” said Tyson Barker, who is now head of the Technology and Global Affairs Program at the German Council on Foreign Relations.
