Academia welcomes focus on continuity from Sweden’s presidency of EU council

Sweden keeps key research topics including infrastructures and open science on the EU agenda

Research leaders have welcomed an unexpected degree of continuity in the EU-related R&D priorities of the bloc’s member state governments for the coming six months.

On 1 January, Sweden took over the rotating six-month presidency of the Council of EU governments from the Czech Republic. Presidencies set some EU priorities and host nations tend to choose many new ones, even though they coordinate in groups of three.
