EU set for research careers push in 2024

Commission expected to allocate “a consequential budget” to organisations providing good job conditions

The European Commission is on the cusp of launching initiatives to support EU researchers’ careers, with fresh details revealed to Research Europe. The proposals include funding employers to improve conditions for newcomers. 

In parallel, the Commission has this week appointed experts to shape the successor to the EU’s Horizon Europe research and innovation programme. They will be led by Manuel Heitor, a senior figure who has been pushing for greater focus on research careers.
