ERA actions lack structure, university group complains

                  

European Research Area development process could also be better organised, says Yerun

There is a lack of structure to the new priorities of the European Research Area, one of the university groups helping to develop them has complained.

Last year, EU member state governments were asked to consider whether to support priority actions to upgrade the ERA, a decades-old EU-led policy package to improve European research. Only actions that received the backing of more than half of the governments by a deadline were meant to be taken forward; instead, several that did not initially receive enough backing are going ahead regardless because they garnered more support after the deadline.
