Stronger health R&D needed for emergencies, says EU Parliament

    

Lessons drawn from Covid-19 pandemic include need for more investment in pharmaceutical development

The European Parliament has called for the EU to strengthen its R&D capacities so it can better respond to health emergencies, including by increasing the resources of its R&D and health programmes.

On 13 July, the Parliament voted by 385 votes to 193 to adopt a report by its special committee on Covid-19, which assessed how the bloc coped with the pandemic.
